The TSB relies on a wide variety of professional, technical, specialized and non-specialized skills to effectively deliver on its mandate to investigate marine, rail, pipeline and aviation accidents and incidents. The TSB is also committed to building a skilled and diverse workforce reflective of the Canadian society. There are three main workstreams within the organization: Investigations, Operational Services and Corporate Services.
The TSB employs about one hundred employees who have primary investigations duties. They are located across Canada with specializations in Headquarters. The experience required to be considered for the positions in this stream varies depending on whether the position is in the Air, Marine or Rail/Pipeline mode.
We are looking for individuals with extensive experience in the modal transportation sector. For some positions, we require certification such as an Airline Transport Licence, Commercial Helicopter Licence or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence in the Air Mode; Master Mariner Certification or a Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer Officer in the Marine Mode; and, engineering certification in the Pipeline mode. In the Rail Mode, we require a combination of industry and regulatory experience in the rail infrastructure, operations and equipment areas.
This workstream is varied in skills and expertise as it regroups engineering analysis and investigations, human factors analysis and investigations, research and study projects, statistical analysis, as well as the development and delivery of multi-modal training and standards.
We are looking for professionals with engineering degrees with specializations relevant to our various positions, persons with sociology, psychology or human factors degrees for our human factors positions and persons with degrees in statistics for our macro-analysis positions.
Included in this workstream are positions in Finance and Administration, Human Resources, Informatics and Information Management divisions. We also have Communications, Publishing and Linguistic Services positions in support of the Investigations Workstream.
We are looking for a wide variety of skills and experience directly linked to the relevant corporate services specialized field, from an accounting designation, a university degree to a combination of education and experience for the more generic positions.
