The Transportation Safety Board of Canada releases investigation report into the July 2010 crash of a DHC2 Beaver near Lac Péribonka, Quebec

(Gatineau, Quebec, January 16, 2012) - The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) today released its final investigation report (A10Q0111) into the July 2010 crash of a DHC2 Beaver near Lac Péribonka, Québec.

The aircraft was on a flight from Lac des Quatres to Lac Margane with a pilot and five persons on board. Approximately ten minutes after take-off the pilot announced his intention to make an emergengy landing because of deteriorating weather conditions. The aircraft struck a mountain about 12 nautical miles west-south-west of the southern end of Lac Péribonka. The aircraft was partially consumed by a non-impact fire. The pilot and three passengers were fatally injured. One passenger was seriously injured and one passenger had minor injuries.

The TSB is an independent agency that investigates marine, pipeline, railway and aviation transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
