Transportation Safety Board of Canada Advisory
(Gatineau, Quebec, March 31, 2011) - The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has deployed a team of three investigators to the site of the accident. At 3:25 a.m. ET, the downbound vessel BBC Steinhoft ran aground in the South Shore Canal, upstream Jacques Cartier Bridge off Montréal, Quebec.
The TSB is an independent agency that investigates marine, pipeline, railway and aviation transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
