Transportation Safety Board deploying team to investigate a marine accident in St. John's, Newfoundland

Gatineau, Quebec, 31 May 2012 – The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is deploying a team to investigate an accident involving the Beaumont Hamel ferry that occurred yesterday in Portugal Cove-St. Philip's, Newfoundland. The TSB will gather information about the ferry and assess the occurrence.

The TSB is an independent agency that investigates marine, pipeline, railway and aviation transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
