TSB Deploys Investigator to Rail Accident near Carmangay, Alberta

(Gatineau, Quebec, February 8, 2011) - The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has deployed an investigator to today’s rail accident near Carmangay, Alberta.

On Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at approximately 7:35 am local time, a freight train was involved in an accident.

The TSB is an independent agency that investigates marine, pipeline, railway and aviation transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
