Speeches

30 August 2001

I want to take this opportunity to inform you that I shall be leaving the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) on 31 August 2001.

I have enjoyed the five years I have spent at the TSB. The exceptional cooperation shown by the staff and the excellent relations I have had with the various parties involved, including industry, professional associations, and national and international organizations, have helped to make our organization one of the most effective in the world.

I have a great deal of respect for the families of the victims of various accidents. Through the many contacts I have had with them, across Canada, I have found that their dignity, their understanding, and their cooperative spirit have helped to ensure that our investigations truly serve the public interest.

Thank you for all your cooperation.
