Investigation report: Float-equipped aircraft incident near Fort Simpson Island Water Aerodrome, Northwest Territories
Today, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) released its investigation report (A24W0116) into the August 2024 aircraft incident involving a De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited DHC-2 Mk. I Beaver floatplane, operated by Simpson Air (1981) Limited, near the Fort Simpson Island Water Aerodrome, Northwest Territories.
The TSB conducted a limited-scope, class 4 investigation into this occurrence to advance transportation safety through greater awareness of potential safety issues. See the Policy on Occurrence Classification for more information.
The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
